The well-known Italian brand Benetton is closing down in Spain following the announcement of a redundancy plan (ERE) for 169 workers (156 in shops and 13 in offices) of the more than 700 people who make up its workforce, as well as in stores located in other parts of the world.
According to El Español, a total of around 500 shops are to be closed by this important brand, which is recognised throughout the world and which for years was considered a true reference in the textile world. The company is thus getting rid of its less profitable shops, including those in Spain.
In the Ibiza shop, located on Avenida Ignasi Wallis, the shop window was already completely covered with white paper on Tuesday, making it impossible to see inside the store. On one side the workers have hung a sign informing users that the shop is closed for good and that they can ‘continue shopping online’. This is how the island of Ibiza and Formentera bids farewell to its only Benetton shop.
