The Passeig de la Mar in Sant Antoni has been the scene this Wednesday afternoon of a mass brawl with about twenty tourists involved in a cross of blows that has resulted in damage to street furniture and a young woman thrown into the sea after receiving a strong push.
According to eyewitnesses, the dispute has started in one of the moored boats and has continued with more violence on the dock. After being alerted of the facts, several units of the Local Police of Sant Antoni, Guardia Civil and 061 ambulances have been mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, those involved in the fight had already left the scene of the brawl.
According to Joan Tur, head of the company Nautilus Ibiza, the origin of the conflict was the refusal of one of those involved in the fight to board one of the boats that carries out excursions to see the sunset. Those responsible for security prevented the young man from boarding «because of his drunkenness,» Tur points out. This fact caused both the young man banned for being drunk and his group of ten companions tried to get on the boat by force and started the fight with the three people in charge of the security of the excursion. The four crew members only prevented those responsible for the fight from boarding the boat, but did not participate in the fight. The girl who fell into the water is part of the company promoting the excursion, which was finally suspended because of this incident. Tur thanked his crew and security personnel for their actions, «as they prevented the fight from happening on the boat. Thanks to our company policy we have prevented this type of people from coming on board,» and added that this has been the only conflict they have had this entire season.
