The data have been announced by the Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca (FEHM) after meeting with several executives of British airlines and tour operators in the framework of the World Travel Market (WTM) in London.
At the meeting, chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Jaume Bauzá, the CEO of Easyjet, Garry Wilson, confirmed that 2023 has been a record year. According to Efe, the airline has made strong investments in technology and closely follows the local communities in which it operates, to apply ESG criteria and measure impacts. They consider Baleares a priority destination».
TUI CEO, Sebastian Ebel, predicted that 2024 will be a good year and more and more importance experience and that the season will be prolonged, «although it is difficult to reach seasonalization due to the lack of specialized offer and public services»arguments supported by the FEHM.
On the other hand, TUI called for more facilities for investment in environmental and energy efficiency issues and reduce bureaucracy and cited policies carried out by other competing destinations that allow incentives for investments.
Jennifer Dovrat, head of destinations for British Airways Holidays, stressed her willingness to stand out with the public and private sector to increase its capacity towards the Balearic Islands. British Airways Holidays is oriented towards a premium customer and is currently evaluating its strategy to decide where and how to grow, being specialized in a customer interested in knowing the destination and full experiences.
The CEO of Jet2, Steve Heapy, stressed that «they already have the extended operation from April to November in Mallorca, although in the other two islands considers it more complicated». Heapy suggested that the growth potential of the islands should be jointly analysed.
